The short version
- FIG is free for you, and there are no ads for now.
- A deal counts once staff scan your QR at the restaurant.
- One account per person. No sharing codes or faking visits.
1. Who we are
FIG is a local deals app based in Markham, Ontario, Canada, run by Brendan Lau ("FIG", "we", "us"). These terms cover the FIG app and website. By creating an account, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.
2. Your account
You can look around FIG without an account. To claim deals, order or post, you need one, and you must be 14 or older. If you're under 18, check with a parent or guardian that it's okay. Use your real name, an email (confirmed with a code) and a mobile number (confirmed with a text code once texts are switched on). One account per person, and a confirmed mobile number belongs to one account. Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
3. How deals work
Deals are offered by restaurants, not by FIG. Each deal shows its own rules (times, limits, dine-in only, and so on) before you claim it.
A claimed deal is yours until the restaurant ends the deal, or until a flash or dated deal is over.
At the restaurant, open your QR code. It refreshes every 5 minutes.
The deal is used once staff scan it. That scan is a "redemption".
Each deal can be used once per person per day, whether you claim it or order it as takeout. If you pay for a takeout order after you've already used its deal that day, the order is declined and your card isn't charged.
Restaurants can change or end a deal at any time. A deal isn't guaranteed until staff scan it. Some deals come as takeout: a takeout order always comes with one of those deals, which is applied to it; dine-in only deals can't be. You pay the restaurant in the app or at pickup, whichever it has set up. If you don't collect an order within 2 hours of its pickup time, it shows as a missed pickup on your takeout record (12 months), which restaurants can see when you order. Nobody reports it and takeout is never switched off for it.
4. Play fair
Restaurants honour every deal in good faith, so we protect them from abuse. Don't:
make more than one account
share, screenshot or sell QR codes
fake visits or redeem without buying
use bots, scripts or location spoofing
harass restaurant staff or other diners
If we see this, we may cancel claims or suspend your account.
5. Restaurants and your food
FIG doesn't run any restaurant. Food, prices, service, safety and allergens are the restaurant's responsibility. Dietary filters are a guide only. Always tell staff about allergies before you order.
6. What you send us
If you send us photos, reports or feedback, you still own them. You let us use them to run and improve FIG. Don't send anything that isn't yours or breaks the law. Reviews must be about your own scanned visit and honest. They're public under your first name and last initial. We can remove reviews that are abusive, fake or off-topic.
7. Leaving FIG
You can delete your account anytime in Profile → Account & password. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we do, we'll tell you why unless the law or safety stops us.
When you delete your account, restaurants keep their records of your orders and visits without your name. You can choose to keep a way to bring them back if you return within 12 months; see the Privacy policy.
8. Our responsibility
We work hard to keep FIG accurate and running, but it's provided "as is". As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the last 12 months or $50 CAD. Nothing here removes your rights under Ontario consumer protection law.
9. Changes to these terms
If we make an important change, we'll tell you in the app at least 14 days before it starts. If you keep using FIG after that, the new terms apply.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of Ontario.
